The 2nd Congressional District has an extremely diverse and ever changing landscape. Lincoln and Saint Charles Counties have given away some of their rural charm. These two counties are experiencing the fastest growth in the state. West Saint Louis County continues to prosper through high tech, agribusiness, biotechnology and financial sectors.
Unfortunately, the populous of the 2nd District has not faired as well. The ever shrinking middle class is causing a division in society. What is happening to the middle class? The middle class was the power, strength and the backbone of this great country. My name is Mike Garman and I would like to represent you in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Our area needs new and expanded industry. We must promote new manufacturing in the greater Saint Louis area. We want to see General Motors and Chrysler adding new vehicle lines not taking them away. We want to see Ford bring a new commitment to Hazelwood and bring back those 1500 jobs to a highly skilled and motivated work force. General Electric needs to bring back an energy saving lamp division, with good pay and benefits for working individuals. We need to create an environment in which U.S. companies compete in the world market place with a strong dollar! We need to reform our healthcare system so our American corporations have the same advantage as foreign companies. It can and will be done!!!!
Mike Garman supports a single payer health system. Someone in America is filing bankruptcy every 30 seconds, on account of medical expenses. Fixing the healthcare system will allow the private business sector to reinvest in our country. This leads to new technology from research and development. Our building trades and labor unions would once again grow, to make way for aggressive industrial expansion.
It is time for for a new direction. It is time to rechannel our energies. It is time to bring prosperity back to our nation.
